Travel Retail Award-winning Champagne Lanson has attracted further acclaim, this time from journal Wine Enthusiast, which has given the brand’s cuvée Le Black Réserve – exclusive to duty free, wine retailers and on-premise – a top score of 96 points.
The cuvée, along with the Le Blanc de Blancs, is now on shelf with Lagardère Travel Retail at Paris airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly.
“Our different cuvées also stand out with good ratings: Le Vintage 2009 (94), Le Green Label Bio (94) [2020 Travel Retail Award-winner], Le Blanc de Blancs (93), Le Black Label Brut (92) and le Rosé (92),” said the brand.
“These ratings reflect the work done over the past few years and testify of the recognition of the quality of the Champagnes Lanson. They affirm our place among the great wines of Champagne.”
Wine Enthusiast is ‘the most widely read wine publication in the USA’ insisted Lanson. It includes several categories of wine classification, articles, interviews, reports, as well as more than 400 tasting notes.
“A blend of as many as 100 different parcels, this newly-created cuvée has depth and richness both from the high proportion of Pinot Noir and the 45% of reserve wines,” said Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast Editor.
“The wine’s ripe green-plum and fine perfumed character give touches of coming, full maturity. Drink this very fine bottling now but also age for several years.”
As reported, Champagne Lanson’s Green Label Organic champagne won the consumer-voted Travel Retail Award for Best Wine Product in 2020, seeing off global competition from globally renowned wine and champagne brands.
Hosted and organised by TRBusiness and leading Swiss consumer research company m1nd-set, the Travel Retail Awards combined the opinions of 5,000 air travellers (weighting of 70% of the vote) and a panel of consumer bloggers and vloggers (30%) to give Green Label Organic the highest mark in the wines category.
‘TOTALLY COMMITTED TO TRAVEL RETAIL’
An expression from its ‘Rare and Exceptional’ range, Lanson created Green Label Organic from its vineyard located in the French villages of Verneuil and Vandières. The 16 hectares of the Domaine de la Malmaison are cultivated organically and bio-dynamically with the greatest respect for plants and soils.
Édouard de Boissieu, Head of Travel Retail Champagne Lanson, said: “Winning this recognition at the Travel Retail Awards for our exceptional Lanson Green Label is huge boost for our brand at a time when travel retail has been so badly hit by what has happened with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We remain totally committed to long term growth for Lanson in travel retail, and we will continue to invest in it, as the channel is such a fantastic window on the world, helping our products reach a global international audience. Our achievement in winning the Best Wines Product category will serve to strengthen our reputation as a leading brand in duty free.”
This is the third year that TRBusiness – a leading provider of duty free and travel retail news – has staged its popular Travel Retail Awards. The award winners were announced at a virtual ceremony broadcast during travel retail’s first ever digital networking forum, TRMarketplace, which took place between 28 September-2 October this year.
